Furlers & Jacks

Service, inspection and evaluation of all brands and types of furlers.

The key to excellent furler operation starts with a detailed installation. Installation begins with a clear understanding of the sail to be flown. We work with our clients and their sail makers to ensure that the sail fits, the sail can be fully hoisted and tensioned & the furling lines run without excess friction and drag.

PTR offers the following services:

  • Selecting and ordering the correct furler
  • Furler inspection, troubleshooting and repair
  • Rod or wire stay replacement in your furler

Types of Furlers

We are experts on new furler installation as well as repairs. We offer competitive pricing on furler packages, which include installation. Profurl, Schaefer and Harken are our favorites because of their engineering, longevity and customer service. Unique, tried and tested geometry. PTR Lazy Jacks are designed to contain the mainsail when reefing or dousing. PTR Jacks are easy to deploy and stow without parts subject to chafe or modification of your sail cover. We offer two sizes with optional upgrades and line securing choices.

PTR Jacks - Sail Controls

Our basic system has Amsteel catch lines and double braid control lines. The kit includes blocks and fasteners. Fasteners are typically for aluminum masts and booms. Please let us know if your mast or boom is wood.

"I wanted to let you now that we absolutely love these lazy jacks. Reefing is easy peasy now, and no more wrasslin’ the mainsail when we drop it. Installation was simple (the video really helped).

Anyway just wanted to say thanks to everyone there for such great stuff!"

Carbon Poles

Custom built carbon spinnaker and whisker poles.

PTR using Forte carbon tubes. We cut to length for each client, then build the pole with Forespar ends, and install partial internal Dyneema control lines. We have chosen carbon fiber for our poles which allow our clients to easily handle the pole on the foredeck and manage your headsails with confidence and ease.

PTR pole storage system

This system consists of PTR installing a chock on your mast and a custom sewn nylon restrainer strap to secure the pole for offshore sailing or foul weather.
